Anyone have success hooking rainbows through the ice with Swedish Pimples? What size? What color? Bait?

Small perch size tipped with a maggot. Just like fishing perch, trout will attack it.

if you can find the original pimples that were brass or copper not chrome plated and painted, they were da bomb. also teardrop jigs which were really just a drip of solder on a number 8 hook. on ghost at early ice (though many many moons ago) the tear drop and the older pimples worked wonders.

keep an eye out for tackle boxes at garage sales for these older gems of lures.

I know I have one from many, many years ago. Tomorrow I'll hunt it down.

I've caught stocked rainbows on Swedish pimples tipped with maggots, corn, PB dough, and cheese. Best jigging spoon has been a Buckshot rattle spoon.

#4 or #6 octopus hook with a chunk of shrimp works better then any lure I've dropped down a hole for trout.

I've heard the Swedish pimple works though, I think I have one or two in my tackle.
