does anyone have any first hand experience with the electric ice augers out now? (not hearsay or conjecture, actual hands-on)

I think Alberta Bigbore has one. Maybe send him a pm.

What would you like to know? I operate many augers.

dad's strikemaster is 5 years old or so, technology has come a long way since then.
#1-nice to be able to just push a button and drill, no messing around trying to start a 2 stroke in the cold
#2-quiet is nice
#3-no gas, and no fumes is nice
true it isn't as fast as a gas auger, but it'll go for about 20 holes in 18" of ice, and the new ones are a lot faster and better.
I'd buy electric based on experience with both.

I think bwackwabbit (sp?) has an ion as well as ABB. They will offer the best review I think.
I'd go electric as I drill maybe 5 holes a day and that's pushing it. Maybe if my auger was more reliable id drill more.
I just don't trust batteries in cold. But they all have pros and cons depending on who you
Ask.
