Help me out... trying to decide on a new 14' tin. Have it down to Lund WC 14 and Princecraft Yukon 15. Both with 15" transom and 4 stroke 15hp merc. Price is darn near the same. Normally fish alone or with my son.
Thanks,

In a boat of this size an extra foot of length is a big difference

Love my Princecraft 170 Xpedition! Very stable boats and great quality. Built in Canada. And slightly cheaper than a Lund!

If you've got the cash, upgrade to a 20" transom. You will never regret the extra money you spend on that.

Another option is to go used and buy a little bigger boat. I picked up a 16' Lund SSV with a 30 hp Merc 4 Stroke last spring for $6000. Love it.

Love my 14'6" Princecraft Resorter, 20 in transom. It is a little under-powered with my 15 hp Johnson with 2 adults after I finished the inside with floor and storage compartments as well as raised consoles on each side for mounting downriggers. Even so it'll do 25 km/hr - once it's on plane. It's rated for a 30 hp so I may upgrade to that size someday.

Definitely go to a 20" transom ...... much better handling in the chop and you are really sacrificing very little.

Buy the Lund .......... absolutely no comparison in my mind. This is, and will continue to be, the best aluminum boat on the market.

Thanks,

how are you planning on moving it around? If you only plan on using a trailer then either is fine. If you plan on just using human power I would probably go with the Prince craft as it's 50 lbs lighter. I would also not go with the deeper boat like suggested above if you plan on hand launching.

My family was a princecraft distributor for years . No comparison in the
Quality . Lund is eons ahead . Both these are going to be underpowered
The Lund weighs maybe 50 lbs more . In heavy water this is an asset .
The bow will stay down ... The PC will pound your teeth out .
Resale is a no brainer ....in ten years there will be no comparison
In the condition of these boats . Lund will be new compared to
The PC . Anybody who argues with this doesn't know what they
Are talking about ......Lund is the number one camp boat in
Canada .

That prince craft package should be 500 bucks cheaper .

Now if you have a familly and want to be happy . Go 20" transom
And definitely the Merc 25 hp . More now but stretched over the
good times ,minor detail

As a guy that works in the boating industry and doesnt deal
In lund....you are bang on. Theres a reason princecraft is usually a dealers 'last option'

I have a Lund 14' adventure (flooboards, live well) with the 20" transom and a 20hp Honda 4stroke. Excellent boat for two people. Have owned this one since 2003 (purchased new). Would do it again.

This...that extra 2' makes a big difference and max out the HP if you can.
