I have never iced fish in Alberta, was wondering if anyone knows a spot where I can go over this weekend for a day trip.

Read, read, read. There is lots of information here, you just have to put in some effort.
Good luck.

Really though, there's Wab, Lac St. Anne, Lac La Nonne, all the trout ponds in the area, and a lot more I'm missing.

How dare you ask questions around here! just kidding! Check out Wabamun.. no keeping allowed, so there's some nice big ones in there.

Google earth is your freind. Find a lake in the direction your looking for and then look through the regs for fish in such lake. As stated before many around just your pref and distance you want to travel. I suggest Gull, only 1 1/2 hr out.

Gull is always good for a day out. Lots of perch but not really that big. Sometimes you might get a 11 incher. Whitefish are around but you need patience. Lots of people on the SW end which is brownlows but I prefer Meridian area. NE side. Much more quiet there. Hope this helps

Several trout stocked waters within 30 minutes of Edmonton, in every direction.
Most have easy access.

There are either pike, perch, walleye, whites or burbot in most of the natural bigger lakes within an hour of Edmonton.

Here is a great resource for info on lots of lakes including depth maps for the lakes listed. The blue (fig.2) in the written text of lake information is always the depth map.

And navionics...u get a 1 day trial and then it's $15 but it's worth every penny...shows ur location on a lake and the depth charts to the foot...very helpful and I love it...$15 gets you almost every single lake in all of Canada and the US

Yup but I heard of guys getting pike almost every cast...may be tough tho as there is a chronic biomass problem
