Anybody been there how's the ice?

There was a post and video a few weeks back ...... the ice in that area should be 12"-14" by now HOWEVER Devils lake has springs and inflows, so be careful out there.

I let someone like AppleJax drive on first - he is brave. He's a trail blazer .... lol.

There are a few lakes on the "be careful" list beyond the normal precautions like Battle, some areas at Wabamun, Devils and some areas of South Buck.

Thanks good thing about devils is you don't have to walk very far to get into fish

Fitting name, years ago fishing pike 16" of ice walked 100' to the west,
punched hole 2.5", soiled myself packed up, never been back in the winter be very careful, river runs through it(Sturgeon) springs etc.

Yikes!

I've heard this story so many times in regards to this lake. Too many other lakes to go and try on. I'll be staying away in the winter season. After all I got a new 5 year old fishing partner, can't take the risk myself or with her.

I cant tell you about the ice but it definitely isn't dead. Jammed full of little pike. One of my favorite places to hit when the open water season starts. By summer it is full of algae.
