So i followed the instructions of spray, go to driftwood, walk out a few hundred feet, and I'm only in like 4 feet of water? Also the ice is only 4 inches and it's open in the middle. Could someone be a doll and tell me where I need to be?

we usually had much better luck at sparrowhawk then driftwood, if you keep driving past driftwood down the lake you should see signs for it.
usually to get into good lakers you have to be out in the middle of the lake in like 80-100 ft deep +, although some people have luck fishing for lakers in shallow water, your more apt to probably see whites though. Are you sure there's only 4 inches of ice? I've heard other reports say more than a foot at driftwood. I know there's no way you would catch me out there on only 4 inches of ice! :shark:

If you are standing on only 4 inches of ice and can see open water ....... you are in the wrong spot. Carefully pack up and follow your footprints off the lake ..... 4" isn't what I'd call safe and comfortable.

I agree with the above post .... Try sparrowhawk.

I was just at Driftwood on Dec 30th , Approx 100 yards out and the ice was 13 " thick and 55 + fow.

And if you're actually texting while out there, you might be on the wrong lake...there's no cell service out there!

Ouch my pride. I was on the first lake. I'd been out there in the summer too.just had the mother of all brain farts and forgot there's 2 lakes. Ended up finding where I needed to be. Lots of big hits but they all had commitment issues

Immediately regretted posting that as shortly after I realized I screwed up but couldn't get service to delete the post. Damn

It would appear that way yes. Which begs the question, how did I pass grade 4 geometry?

If your on 4" of ice we're lucky you are responding at all and not reading about you on the news.
Please be more careful and more responsible.

Well I drilled my first hole and it was at least a foot of ice, looked down and it was super shallow. Walked out further and drilled a hole and i was like nope and turned around. And it was on my way back I seriously reconsidered my life and everything I had learned.

4" is lots of ice for walking on. As long as you aren't driving you are perfectly fine. Glad you found the right lake though.

Yeah I heard 5 inches is enough for an ATV and 3 is enough for walking. Still from my first hole to that one it really caught me off guard

Well, if you can see open water you gotta bet it is going to get thinner in a hurry. Gotta be paying lots of attention when playing on hard water.
