So i decided to custom build a camera set as Marcum didn't have an LCD bigger than 7" and the CRT system i got sucks.

So here goes my project.

9" EONON LCD with 1024x768 resolution
Unused 3 tray tackle box - removed the top tray, used the middle as a monitor mount and bottom tray as a tackle tray.
540TV Lines underwater camera with 8 IR lights.

The camera that was sent to me was the wrong one, the cable was only a foot long instead of 50 ft....and only 2 inches long instead of 5 inches. so i had to compromise and extend the cable using cat5e network cable i had laying around and rig the levelling of the camera.

So far so good as i tested it in my fish tank for 4 hours lol

Any suggestions/feedback on this project?

Thinking of switching it over to a bigger case so i can mount the lcd and flasher all in one.

That looks great! Is it hard wired to the screen?

yes its hardwired to the screen through the AV ports.

Plan on adding a mini-DVR to record videos lol

I am doing a project too. Where did you get your stuff? My stuff should be here from china in about 2 weeks. I have ordered a 540 Tvl Sony 1/3 inch Super HAD cam and an inline dvr.

Can you share the link to the website you got your stuff from? I like that monitor...

I have also figured out how to connect my project to a 15" LCD computer monitor which happens to run on DC. Can't wait to see the fishies come in on the big screen!

Pretty neat but there are a couple potential issues I see.

First is that the system doesn't look all that waterproof, my fishing gear always gets wet between the snow, frost and condensation and I wonder how this system will hold up to the elements.

Second is that based on your picture those lights are visible and therefore you could potentially be ticketed if using them(not sure if they can be shut off?). IR is supposed to be invisible but those must be emitting some visible light as well which could get you into trouble(unlikely but theoretically possible).

Other then that looks good, not something I would personally try but hopefully it works out for you.

Looks good I built one last winter and used a piece of 1/2 inch rod for a weight if you clam it horizontally under the camera you can then slid it froward or back to set the camera angle if wanted/needed. Also all IR lights are visible to other cameras so they are most likely invisible to the eye.

I got the camera from eBay, not exactly what i was looking for but it'll do for now. If i knew about the wifi transmitter before, i would have gotten instead of the screen and the DVR.

mini-DVR was from ebay as well, was $23USD only requires a DC 12V/1A power source. I got a 9A battery, hope it'll run everything for at least 6-7hrs

Yeah the IR is invisible, i'll be testing this kit out this weekend so hopefully it'll turn out with the cold temperatures. It was just an idea as i'd like a bigger screen the the ones offered and wasn't too sure about the quality of the wifi transmitting devices.

The only thing i'm worried about is a pike going after the 2" camera LOL

It will definitely happen, they try and eat the big Marcum cameras all the time.

OK I did not think of the tacklebox idea, but I do got to get mine together.

BTW you can also WIFI enable it for about 50$

I have used a few of these small cameras If you open the housing the LEDs can be unplugged easily.
