Hi all,

I took the family up to our cabin in Sask between Christmas and New Years for a few days and discovered that my 5.5" Cabelas Advanced Angler underwater camera wasn't working. We fished anyway ( and did quite well with over 200 perch caught in 3 days) but the kids were disappointed that the camera wasn't working. I took it into Reel Doctor today and we tried different cameras and batteries, but to no avail.

So I am now doing some research for a new camera. I am not willing to spend the $500+ that some of the models are. I was looking at the Aqua-Vu 715C but wondered what other u its I should consider. I have a Mo-Pod already. Suggestions?

The Marcum VS485c would be a good alternative, but it is getting up closer to the $500 mark at $419. Cabelas has a Vexilar Scout for $329 that is a good price point, just not sure how the camera is. I had the vexilar Fishphone and it was decent. You can also order the vexilar dvr recorder for it as well.

I bet the Aqua Vu is good too.

Not sure if that helps, but good luck.

x2 on the Marcum. Just picked up the VS485C for 319 on sale from radioworld. Used it a couple times, great camera.

Was just on the Radiowolrd site yesterday and it looks like that sale is over. They have Vexilar F800's on for $319. Any experience with them?

I think the main difference is the Marcum will have the Sony Had II camera and the Vex will have the Had 1. Just a little better depth/definition with the Marcum.
