Not anymore....if you want to stare at a hole all day it's good. If you want to catch fish I would go elsewhere.

Sadly Coal is a mere shell of it's former self. There's a few fish but nothing worth taking valuable time to fish for.

Good thing your not seeking "hotspots" because they are non-existent in that lake unfortunately. I can't wrap my head around that lake, I have gone in the summer and nailed 20-30 pike a night but all 4 times I have ice fished it I have been skunked. My pb perch came from Coal lake oddly enough, but it was the one an only perch I have caught there and it was a total fluke while I was trolling with a rapala bigger than the perches mouth.
Wish I could help more but I can't seem to catch anything through the ice on that friggen lake.
