If I buy a fishing license now will it only cover till end of Feb or will it cover next yr

It will be good until March 31 I do believe. Then you will need a new one for the open water season when it begins in May.

All the above is correct. You will need a new one April first. If it makes you feel any better the $27 some odd dollars will go towards sticking lake and such. Some of it anyways :)
