I took the day off on Friday and pulled my youngest out of school to go fishing. We went to our cabin at Garner Lake which seems like a tough nut to crack sometimes. I've had great days and horrible days out there and so in typical fashion, this is the story of my weekend.
Got up early on Friday and hit the ice shortly after sun up. Started in 10 FOW and saw one small pike who wanted nothing to do with us. Between then and 4:00 didn't see a thing. I must have drilled 50 holes throughout the day on every shoreline and all the usual water depths where I'd expect to find them. Just as the day was done, I drilled a couple holes in almost 25 feet and found one lone perch. My oldest son drove out with my best friend after work and the four of us hit it Saturday morning.
I started deeper Saturday and within 2 minutes of putting the camera down, there was a school of footballs down there. We caught our limit and must have released 40 more throughout the day.
Today was slower but still alright. Went home with a couple meals of yummy perch and had a great weekend with some of my favorite people on earth.

Every now and then I see people criticizing others for saying which lake they were at and I suppose I could play the lake x game, but here's the thing... none of these guys were easy pickings. I invested almost 9 hours of my day off drilling holes in the ice all over the lake to find these perch. There are better lakes out there where they are easier to find. I either got lucky or blessed or something. Tight lines everybody.
