I was just out at Hermirage outfall today for the first time. Read tons of good reviews on it but all the reviews were summer fishing. I was wondering if anyone had any luck fishing there this winter? It's been warm lately and it's not frozen around the fall. Any tips??

Just use a jig tipped with a minnow right off the out flow should be decent action

Good for you to give that spot a try at this time of year. Fished that spot in winter plenty of times, but there are some much better spots that you can fish all winter long in Edm. Just make sure the temp is near zero or above, or your rod eyes and reel freezes up. Good luck.

Which spots in Edmonton are you talking about?
I just moved here.

Goldbar water treatment discharge. straight north on 50 street on the south side and you run right into the park. Park in the parking lot and a short walk to the river.

Maggots on a pikeral rig might get you some rocky mountain whites and suckers. Minnows, not sure but worth a try. It isn't really deep there but does hold fish.

Good Luck.

So with a pickeral rig, can you cast it? Or do you just drop the line and weight down into the water? Do you reel in a bit or just let it sit?

Thanks

Yes, cast the rig, tighten up the line and wait.
