A few weeks ago I started a thread here on the AO, asking if anyone had recommendations on a good Rescue/First-Responders knife (Link; http://www.outdoorsmenforum.ca/showthread.php?t=239607). After a few posts from some of the guys here, Ken (Ken07AOVette) chimed in and simply posted; "Pm me your address please Sir".

Reader's Digest version ... out of the blue, Ken (who has never met me in person) gave me one of his fireman's knives, and it arrived in the mail today! :)

I couldn't believe it when I opened the package. The knife had absolutely everything I was looking for in a Rescue(EMT) knife. As in the image above ^, it has a three function blade, flipper with spring assisted opening, seatbelt webbing cutter, carbide tip emergency glass breaker, and a pocket clip.

I'm still a bit lost for words, so for now I'll just say; Thanks Ken ... Greatly Appreciated!

That's good Karma right there. Its nice when fellows with a passion for something encourage and assist the younger generation who are pursuing the same interests.

Ha ha I'd be surprised if it was anyone else BUT ken.

Weird how helping out others makes most people happy but only a few chronically help others.

That man is addicted to being helpful.

What is with the serrations on the top of the blade? They aren't cut out like the ones on the "sharp" side of the blade.. I've never seen one like that before.. it's a sweet looking knife though!

Does anyone know where I can get a great first responders knife?

In all seriousness Ken is a top notch guy does great things for so many...he has been burnt a few times but continues to be so kind and giving.

The knife looks sweet .....does anyone know if we can order these from anywhere?

I don't post much on here, but have been more of a lurker for quite a while. I am extremely impressed with how kind, giving and helpful Ken is and always seems to be. If I ever get the chance I'd like to shake the mans hand, even if it means breaking a few digits haha! But for now this is all I can do, so thanks Ken!

http://www.unlimitedwares.com/tac-force-tf-515oe-8-25-emt-rescue-spring-assisted-folding-knife/

Looking at the knives they all seem to be spring assisted....is spring assisted legal in Canada?

on the blade yes. Inside the handle (switchblade/butterfly) no.
No proof that's just my understanding.... I bought a Kershaw with spring assist on the blade at wholesale

That is absolutely amazing, everything Ken has done on this forum has been outstanding! The PIF threads have been great, and the creation of donation threads for those in need is fantastic! If you're ever in Calgary Ken, send me a pm and I would love to buy you a beer or two! You're a stand up guy Ken!

Also, what a gorgeous knife! Who makes it? It's something I will be looking to buy when I start my career!

I've got nothing but good to say about the man. Well worth the trip to PV last summer.

If you're ever lucky enough to meet him, be prepared to feel as big as a child when he shakes your hand. 'Big' isn't a large enough word to describe them.

Great man with a heart as big as he is.

those who follow this site know how nice a guy he is,

if I am not mistaken he ran for municipal council and lost, too bad he would bring some common sense to that local little municipality,

somedays I wish I was more like Ken and that other guy who used to counsel marital problems in edmonton, also a nice guy, too bad I am worn out from giving over the years but it is time for the younger guys to take over, some of us are not long on this earth but have tried

later

Wow that is some good karma right there....

On a side thought....

Why would an EMT need such a knarly knife?....

I have heard of fire fighters who are pyromaniacs and start fires as a make work project....

I wonder if EMT's suffer from the same thing...:thinking-006:

:scared0018:

Because he thought it was funny and he doesn't take himself too seriously which we could all do a little more often. I think he should post more often with that wit and humor.

Nice - Carma - PIF

Well done ^ Fisherman! Those three words do well in summing it up :happy0034:

In the same spirit of Ken giving me that EMT knife, I will be doing the classic; "PIF X 3" (a.k.a. 'The Ripple Effect', or 'One Good Deed, Deserves Three More').

Cheers,

Mac
