CVR - driving on ice

got out monday and night and last night to cvr. 21" ice and lots of snow patches on top. drove across the lake to the east islands without any issues. I was surprised to see all the snow on top, must stay cooler around CVR than other lakes in the south?
managed a burb and a walter last night in 15-18 fow.

RU going on at the boat launch or from the north end. And if the north end do you go towards the lake by the colony and is there a trail or something where I could see how to access from the north.
