Just heard a local dropped his car thru the ice on calling in 5' water.
Be careful out there.

Where about? Always bad ice by the river, too much current.
Otherwise, I could only think of a collapsed ice heave??

Yeah I was shocked to hear it, and I don't have any details as to where or why. But I know the guy, and will try to find out more info.

thats really scary! i was driving west of the boat launch on sunday with my truck. i saw a ridgeline driving around and a 3/4 truck pulling a covered trailer on my way out. i was consistently drilling 16 inches of good ice. Nearly 2 inches of water covers the ice with no snow. Makes for a pretty sketchy drive….but sorta cool that the same time.

I have always wondered why guys drive over shallow water. If you are going to have problems it will be over shallow water; beaver runs, springs, incoming creeks , resonance waves etc are really only problems over shallow water.
