I've been craving a fish fry. So I set out this morning looking for supper. It's been thawing here big time. You sink in the mud until you hit the frost then it's like snot.

Once I got on the lake the perch were steady, a few keepers.
http://i222.photobucket.com/albums/dd55/dago029/015_1.jpg
http://i222.photobucket.com/albums/dd55/dago029/027_1.jpg
Then the first big hit on the rod. 1st walleye.
http://i222.photobucket.com/albums/dd55/dago029/017_1.jpg
Just over 20" I knew supper was going to be good.
http://i222.photobucket.com/albums/dd55/dago029/022_1.jpg
A half hour latter the 2nd big hit. Another 20" walleye. Wahoo:sHa_shakeshout:
http://i222.photobucket.com/albums/dd55/dago029/024.jpg
That was the last walleye of the day, but the perch kept us going.

Then it was home for supper. The fillets were prep.
http://i222.photobucket.com/albums/dd55/dago029/037.jpg
Cooked
http://i222.photobucket.com/albums/dd55/dago029/039.jpg
Served up with some tarter.
http://i222.photobucket.com/albums/dd55/dago029/042.jpg
And promptly eaten.

Now I'm on the recliner.

If you ever get a chance to pick up some Fish Crisp at Canadian Tire (they have several varieties) I prefer Beer Batter give that a try sometime, simply delicious :)

The instructions on the package are great, it reads: One can of beer per package. Drink two sips from can then add the rest to a package. lol

Winner, winner walleye diner!

Thanks for posting, looks like a great time all around.

Seeing those ruts in the farmers pasture make me sad. I wouldn't be surprised if you see them lock the gate from now on.

Are you sure its on a farmers pasture or are we at lake X once again, thanks fore the awareness though on your standards for private land.because I feel the same way given circumstance but judging with O circumstance gets the AO police firing on all cylinders witch is a dayly battle if you now what I'm sayin.

It's great too! I have had several internet conversations with Darryl, he even helped me find my Wisconsin Fish Boil pot, which is extremely hard to find. His products are great, he is AMAZING and I really miss his fishing show! Especially the shore lunch segment! :)

I wondered about that myself. Not sure where the area is but if it not your own land we would you rut it up. Hate to see areas closed off not enough good perch lakes as it is.

Looks like the ice is starting to get in rough shape out there.

Glad there is going to be a cold snap this weekend.

I was out last weekend for perch so this weekend i am heading out with some buddies to chase more 10+lbs eyes like a few weekends ago.

Nice fish. Yummy!

Batters were mentioned in the posts and I just wanted to suggest that pancake mix is great. Instead of using milk or water for the liquid in the batter recipe try using ginger ale instead.

Regarding the ruts... I am not saying one way or the other about the ruts, whether on private or public land. I don't have enough information to make an opinion.

Maybe give this a read...especially the land owners with lakefront property.(or riverfront) Worth the read. Then make an educated opinion on rights and wrongs. It is all about the laws and acts that apply to Alberta waterbodies and watercourses.

http://www.healthyshorelines.com/media/The_Law_and_the_Lake.pdf

Here is an excerpt:
Myth: "I own my property right to the water’s edge!"
Fact: The vast majority of lake front property owners in Alberta do NOT own their land right to the water’s edge."

Anyways, At least it's getting colder now and the ground and mud will harden up. Enjoy the fishing.

Looks tasty, it appears you will be able to include a bit of gopher hunting with your fishing in that area pretty soon.:)

I thought about not putting that picture on, but its an established trail on federal land. You can see in the pic. someone has been driving on the grass. I wanted to stay on the trail, so I wouldn't tear up the grass. No new grassland was rutted up.

No need to explain Dago, your post and pictures are fun as well as excellent and welcomed by most here!!!!

There are lots of people here that have to pick at everything, just to start an argument and your post as far as I can tell is about a great day in the outdoors, followed by a rewarding gourmet diner. I applaud you :)

Can you imagine what these people that have issues with a well used fishing trail would say if they saw all the pictures of the devastation and destroyed land created by oil the companies that are raping Alberta for $$$$?

Everything in perspective, is a better approach!

Thank's. I was just going to post a long winded post about public land access and following the rules. You are right about not having to explain myself. It was a great day outdoors and a better meal.

No problem buddy, happy to spare you the finger exercise. :)

Fingers can be put to better use, like detecting the faintest nibble at the end out your line, so you can continue cooking gourmet diners! :bad_boys_20:

It is quite amazing....Out at chain Lakes last summer with my kids on the boat, I decided to put a 5 of diamonds on my oldest son's hook and bam...only one catching anything..LOL..We managed to loose it off the line and the only small one I had in my box. Next day and went out and bought 3 more...Just in case...for next time..lol
