So loaded the quad a bit to quick I smashed out the back window in my dodge dakota. I call crystal glass on the south side and they told me 700 for it. Nothing special about it. Anybody know of any cheap places in edmonton and area.

I have a custom made headache rack for a Dakota.
Pm me if your interested.
Save your window in the future. Carry a boat, pipe, ladder or whatever.

Wreckers, try LKQ in Ponoka, right on the highway where Don Laing trailer used to be.

They have thousands of late model vehicles. And it is one of the nicest cleanest auto dismantler around.as they call them that nowadays .

First off, I am frugal to a fault. :)

I saw this in some other guys truck and copied the idea. It's made from scrap materials and cost me nothing.
The center section is the thickness of a 2x4. We put a one liter container of oil in there, along with anything else that fits, like garbage. There's a couple of holes drilled in the bottom as this thing isn't waterproof.
The thickness of the two side sections are determined by your quad. The tires bump up against the side sections, preventing the quad from taking out the rear window. In the pictures, the two side sections aren't secured yet. This is for a friend and we have to determine how thick to make this part so that it works for his quad.
The purpose of the board on bottom is to prevent this contraption from tipping over when the quad isn't inside the box.

The whole thing is 4ft wide and is high enough to fit under the box rails.
It's a simple idea that works well. Maybe some day I'll make a pretty one.
YMMV

A windshield is only $190 installed. Check other major glass companies.

Windshields are not the same. I've broken two of mine. Paid $500 for a Ram rear window last year. Should say that is what my insurance Co paid. Think it was Speedy? Speedy Mobile.......guy came to the parking lot where I work and did the job there!

Not a permanent solution, but I had the misfortune of having the back window of an old s-10 kicked in at a trailhead, bastards yanked the stock radio, cut the cables and left it sitting in the box, nothing in there to steal.
I didn't have a credit card or interac card but did have around $100 on me. (I left my wallet with my bro on the mainland for safe keeping)

The glass price was more so I ended up picking up a piece of plexi that I scored and snapped to fit the opening, duct taped the inside and I was back in business, didn't need the tape as the rubber gasket was good to go but rainy west coast and driving back to Ab I just wanted to make it more water tight.

It stayed that way for 2 years until the transfer case blew on it, ended up letting a buddy in Wainwright have it for his farm.
Also pigtailed the stereo back in for tunes on the ride home, loved that tape deck! :)

Cheap I know, but it would have got me through the interim if I did replace the glass.

Big Wrecker right in Spruce grove, give them a call first, then check the local guys. Or look on line at Pick and Pull for a Dakota.

I had to replace the rear window in my 2012 ram. Plain smoked was $250ish. Saved a bit by removing the back seats myself.

A rear slider for a full sized p/u truck is like $225.00 and can be installed by any handy diy'er.
Here is a link that shows you how to do it....

Of course you will need a couple of semi special tools and some urethane sealant so it doesnt leak when re-installed.
Tight windows ;)
