Just seen it on facebook. Not a big cat but must have been damn hungry to take on 2 full grown men.

To many cats out there for my liking. Buddy of mine had one in His back yard yesterday morn. He lives on a acerage with bush in behind. His kids play in the yard all the time. Anyone have ideas to keep them away from someone's back yard. Help would be appreciated. And yes I have already thought of SSS. Was hoping for other solutions. Glad to hear those men are alright. Did what they were supposed to fight luge crazy.

yikes, sounds about right, maybe two saws at once. So lucky to not have lost an eye.

Too many predators from crows to Grizzly bears.

looks like the cat took a few blows to the beak, almost like a good old bar brawl at shanks except our cougars here wear lipstick!:sHa_sarcasticlol:

He was very very lucky to get out with those injuries.
Interesting the cat went after two grown men.

I was surprised it went after two men. I will admit that I LOVE cats. Yes I have personally met a cougar around Nordegg, by myself, and had no problems. I was not armed and was quite surprised to see it. Also came across a lynx a few years back on my birthday and she posed and spoke to me for a bit...till a couple guys came along.
Also encountered wolves...no problems either.
In fairness to all animals we humans are expanding hugely into their space, get a map of Alberta unground pipes ....staggering! !
But aggressive animals of any kind are not good for people.

Well lynx and wolfs will very seldom be a problem, a cat however is a very different story.

I saw something on tv awhile ago about big cats stalking and attacking mountain bikers, and it said something about a rabies type virus being found in a cougar that was put down in that area. Also showed other places where big cats were far less afraid of humans than they should have been. Not sure what is going on but glad those two guys lived through the experience.

No need for the SSS

Any person who is the owner or occupant of privately owned land may at any time of the year, hunt (but not trap) cougar on such lands without a licence. The use of dogs is prohibited. Under this authority, registration is required within one week of the kill, and the owner or occupant may keep the cougar.

I wonder why it attacked...

Probably because our deer population is down to almost none, but don't worry we still have supplemental tags......:thinking-006:

Something was Definetly off for the cat to hang around for nearly two hours after the attack.

How about a couple well trained Irish Wolf hounds. Don't think any cat would take a chance against 2 of them. 200 lbs of muscle and teeth.
Saw 4 greyhounds (trained for hunting coyotes) try to take one on, the greyhounds came out of the scrap whimpering, the wolf hound didn't have a scratch on him.

Im working 1 km away from where this attack happened. The cat 3 days prior walked right through our laydown at work. The fish and fur came a few days ago to warn us there is other cats out there that are probably just as dangerous cause apparently last year there were labourers feeding the cats and dogs out there.

Some people these days!!!
