Just wondering if anyone has had any experience with this model? I bought a new one in November 2013. In July 2014 it overheated to the point of causing damage to the motherboard. Navico replaced it on warranty with a new one which was warrantied for six months. I used the replacement twice in the fall. The first time it got too hot to hold my hand on it for any length of time.The second time it heated up to over 41 degrees C . I contacted Navico about the problem and was instructed to take it to the Warranty depot in Edmonton. I questioned them about the design and the heating problem and their reply was " We have never been contacted about this problem before and we have sold thousands of them". "We don't feel its a design problem". Please let me know if you have had any experience ( good or bad ) with this Lowrance Elite 5 HDI unit.
