I'm not particularly anti-Neshi, but seriously, what has he done? I can't name one achievement or innovation. Didn't he campaign the election before last on getting more basement suites improved to provide more housing, increase density? I don't think that happened. Anything else? I'm not trying to trash him. I'd seriously like to know what major move he has pushed forward. I know all about taking swipes at developers and other counselors, getting himself sued, but other than that? He did seem to do a decent job of leadership on the flood, but...

He is really good at taking credit for things. The SW LRT leg is one as is the extension of the NE LRT and also the waste of money Peace bridge. All of these infratructure projects were initiated under Bronconier and completed under Spendshi. At all of the openings what Spendshi had to say about them was like he got the ball rolling on them.

Spenshi is a tax and spend socialist and Rob Ford would be prefferential to him IMO.

he did good during the flood..... and thats about it.

he hates the suburbs and is all about high density housing, but there is no infrastructure to support it

This is a free country, so you can say what you want about Nenshi. But best you keep that ^ *&^%$# Rob Ford out of my town! :angry3:

Actually, he really did Nothing during the floods. He flew to Toronto when the flooding was imminent and only returned when the City was under water. The City has had emergency plans in place for situations like the flooding for decades, and the City was being well cared for due to these emergency plans, led by the then Fire Chief, Burrell.
His Royal Purpleness flew back and took command, taking up every bit of air time he could...but he really didn't do Anything.

He did get Calgary food trucks...

This World Major thing is simply racist BS. Any non Muslim hetero sexual major didn't stand a chance of 'winning'.

Sorry for the rant...

He / they did get a raise recently, also remember the drinking in offices at city hall in one of the wings a couple weeks ago.
Didn't he move Calgary closer to Banff ? Sorry, that was just the city growing.

Why does everyone praise nenshi for his work during the flood?
I was City police during that time and it was a total cluster. I didn't see or hear anything good from city hall. They had contradicting orders. Entire work crews and emergency workers forgotten about for 20 hours.
It was a joke from start to finish. The only reason it looked ok from the outside was it wasn't actually that bad in terms of real danger. Sure lots of property damage but little threat to people's lives.

I've worked other natural disasters in the world that were much worse and much better handled. Calgary was amature at best. Just like everything else from that joke of a city.

Nenshi has more fans who voted for him than the other guys. This one of those things where you can vote as many times as you like .

Why the voter apathy in cowtown or is it really that liberal

Why the voter apathy in cowtown or is it really that liberal

During the last civic election his closest 'competitor' was John Lord (RIP). He was an ex Alderman and MLA who was out of politics/limelight for many years, almost an unknown. His budget was about 10% of Nenshi's budget.
Yet somehow Lord managed nearly 25% of the votes. Nenshi received the lowest 2nd term major voter percentage since they have been keeping these sorts of records.
If a more established/better known individual had run against Nenshi it would have made the election interesting, as allot of anti Nenshieites didn't turn out for the vote. Yes BB, voter turnout apathy.

Again, sorry for the rant...His Purpleness is only in office due to his minority status, Calgarians desire to have our own version of Obama and Rick Maciver not taking him seriously enough 5 yrs ago...

Today a committie approved the creation the new job of an "Integrity Commissioner" because of the HE said/She said BS about Councillors partying it up at Silly Hall....it is that big blue behomoth filled with bureaucrats....I just bet the person who gets the pencil pushing job gets paid well over 100 grand a year and also rates a personal assistant and say another 3 other people to do the work for him/her....of course all of them will be entitled to an indexed defined benefit pension plan and the taxpayers are the ones paying for it.

More useless wastefull spending by the fat purple BAST-ard......cripes why OH why cant he just not be carefull whilst posting on twitter on his smartphone whilst crossing the street and get run over by a bus....it would be fitting as he is throwing taxpayers under the bus.

Long story short....yet another litter of piglets feeding at the City of Calgary taxpayer trough.

He's the politically correct ego-maniac in charge, much like the swollen head President of the USA. If you disagree with him, that's because you are too simple to see his enlightened way.

I was once told that people who wear purple are sexually frustrated. :scared0018:

Ya, he likes to wear purple. Purple ties, shirts, whatever...prefer not to imagine his other purple garments, thanks!
I wonder why he is never photographed in public with his boyfriend, a black lawyer, apparently...Where is his "pride"?? :)
Anyway, I am glad that I lived in Calgary during the Klein years...
