Battle Lake

Any of you fellows (or gals) had any luck at Battle Lake? Some friends caught some huge whites there a few years back but I don't know much about the lake re: access, where to fish, etc. What I have heard is that success for whites is not common, but when you get into them, it's a real thrill! Would love some advice. Also thought about trying Pigeon for some winter walleyes. Have some tags but haven't fished Pigeon for many years. Where to go? Access? How deep to fish, etc. Will probably make out okay, but have fished long enough to know the value of advice of those with local & recent experience! Thanks for the help.
