Whitetail or Premier lake BC

Planning a camping/fishing trip for July in BC but have next to no experience there. Heard good things about Whitetail but I guess you can't reserve a spot. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanx in advance

Premier for your base - and do a day trip to Whitetail if you want to.

Whitetail camp-ground is often full, and you can't reserve.
Whitetail lake is small with limited depth and can get quite crowded, or the fishing can shut down on the entire lake. Premier is a big lake, lots of room with varying depths/conditions.

Surface temps will be pushing 60ºf + . Fish will be moving out of the shallows and into thermocline related areas. Premier will be your best bet . Id recomend looking at bass lakes in the area as a plan b, they will be coming on to ideal conditions as opposed to the trout retreating to the depths.

Never fished Premier, but have fished Whitetail quite a few times. Hopefully last year was just an off year, but fishing was not near the quality it has been in other years. The rainbows were scarce and the brook trout were either really small or non-existent. Beautiful lake none the less. Fantastic sight fishing for big fish even in the summer (during early morning).

Wife and I fished Premier twice this past fall and limited out in just 2 hours! Average size was around 12 to 14 inch. Two came in at just over 17 inches.
We were using wet flies at around 12 ft depth trolling east side at extremely slow speed. Everyone else we passed using flasher trolling rigs were SOL.

Camping is not the greatest but very nice spot.

Premier is a great rainbow lake. Have done well slow trolling black leeches on a med sink flyline. Hoping to make it back this year myself. The water and scenery is great.
