Two Calgary men planned to go ice fishing on McGregor Lake Thursday morning, but the truck they were in went crashing through the ice. They escaped without injury but called 911, prompting Milo firefighters, EMS and RCMP, along with both the Town of Vulcan's and Vulcan County's community peace officers, to attend the scene. AFAB Mechanical and Towing was called in to remove the vehicle from the ice. Here, Vulcan RMCP's Evan Taylor talks a statement from the elderly man who was driving.

Stay safe out there folks

Glad they are ok, truck can be replaced. I'm way north so don't know that lake but is that a channel, creek or something? Looks narrow.

Yup, that's the canal by Milo. There is a beaver house right where they went through. Guys go through the ice there every couple years and there is a trail on land that takes you 10 steps to the channel !!! I was out on Monday, about a hundred yards away and the ice was 22" thick ! Stay away from beaver dams and the channel in where it goes into the lake !!

And by the way, that channel is 25' deep, they were lucky !!:)

Glad to see they got out safely. Just because it is middle of Feb does not mean the ice down south is thick enough to drive a truck out.

I am glad they are OK ........ but driving on a channel on the ice???? That doesn't seem like the brightest idea to me.

I haven't been to McG in years, but if that's the channel by Milo ..... isn't there a road running right beside the channel? why not drive down the road and walk 20 feet to the channel?????

Driving on the ice in the south right now doesn't seem the brightest to me, period.

No ..... he's an albino. You should get up close and look at his pink eyes ... pretty creepy.

There is a coulee a couple miles south on the west side and that is definitely where the truck fell through. The ice is always sketchy there and has claimed a few trucks over the years

That was CVR a couple years ago. They still laugh about it when brought up.
