Polaris 800 rmk or pro?

Anyone got any good or bad to say about the polaris 800's? I've got a 2009 summit 800 ptek which has been a pretty good sled, thinking about picking up a new 800 as there seem to be some pretty good deals out there on the 2014 and 2015 new RMK's right now.

Get the Pro model as you get all the goodies with it. The 800 Poo engine did have issues with piston skirt slap which meant you had to install a fix it kit (piston change etc) and not sure if it was addressed in later years. Do know Poo has a new 800 engine with more hp coming out in the 2016 models.

I had heard about the piston problems, but I'm unsure if they fixed them as it sounds like the Liberty engine is on it's way out in favour of the HO model...at least in the PRO models for 2016.

I have a 2012 with the "fix kit" installed. It is a $1000 shop rebuild that is usually needed at 1500 - 2000 miles. The "Doo" guys laugh at this, but fail to acknowledge their recommended engine teardown every 2000 miles to grease the inner crankshaft bearing. I'm no mountain riding expert, but I'm told (from my Polaris buddies) it's the best riding machine out there. In the end, they all cost you something to maintain so pick the best value at the dealer you trust and have fun!

I have a 2014 Pro , You will be safe with a 14 or 15 and confident in the performance of it , minimal reliability issues , all brands have some. Example: for a few years cats could not keep belts together, does not matter how strong the engine is if this is a reliability reality. Now if you read sledding forums there are more skidoo issues than polaris or cats.

Back to the question : Pro or std RMK , this is up to you and what you need or want , want to spend .more mountain riding, the PRO is more for that, the std RMK is for that but I believe more to a flat lander wanting a mountain machine, a little heavier, chaincase ,more cooling, track wheels etc. more suited for harder jumping ditch banging JMO.

I would go with pro....no rider on this planet can outrider the new 2015 best handling sled I've ever rode hands down
