I've got an older Bausch and Lomb 15-45x 60 I believe it is. The lower magnifications are good, but once you start getting over 25x or so it becomes apparent that it's not a $2000 scope. Not bad for the price...I think it's a bushnell elite now...

Never compared it to a zeiss or swaro though. Too scared to look through the high end glass as it might make me empty my wallet.

To be honest, I usually just take my 10x42 binos with me and the scope rarely leaves the house except for scouting season or at the range. I don't do any sheep hunting or antelope hunting so I've never really, really, really needed much over 20x, although there are times it would have been nice.

If not sheep hunting, 15x40 is plenty

Vortex razor 16-48x65 would do nicely.

^^^ I use that spotter. Really nice glass for the money. At 48x it's nice and clear.

I have this Pentax with a 20-60 zoom eyepiece.

First thing i would decide on is angled or straight. Figure out if your going to pack it or "ride" with it the most. I use mine for scouting etc. the most and then its Binos. Important accessories for me was a small tri pod and window mount.

Bird watching forums are a very good source of reviews for spotters. That is one of the reasons I went with the Pentax. It "scores" well with the Bird watching crowd as that group is primarily optics.
