Hey guys, i recently caught a personnel best walleye and am thinking about getting a replica mount. I was wondering if you guys could point me in the right direction of a good taxidermist. I live in the Edmonton area. Thanks

After considerable research, I chose advance taxidermy in Toronto. They do all of cabellas mounts as well as a good portion of the fishing and hunting show taxidermy as well. The clincher for me is that they could duplicate the individual markings and scars on my mount.
With that said, I'm sure the locals guys can do a great job, I just wasn't sold on sales pitches and answers to some of my questions.
My best advice is to keep asking questions until you feel comfortable to move forward. It's kind of like getting a tattoo, you want lasting quality to capture that moment, and not a cheaper alternative.

I find that odd as they returned every call that I've ever made to them and even sent me a Xmas card last year! Honest?! I'm more than pleased with the work that they did on my pike!

No question the guy to go with in Chuck Holyk out of Smithers. His business is called Headwaters Fish Reproductions. Check out his website. I have a spring on my wall that he did for me and it's fantastic. He is a perfectionist!!

I was recommended by a friend who has multiple hunting replicas to use advanced taxidermy. I called them and they were very informative and helpful, I plan on getting a lake trout mount done for my gf, not sure what is reasonable for price? Was quoted $800 for a base mount, laker measurements were 37.5" long 20" girth, opinions on price?

I will say, just from browsing their website and what I've seen in my buddies basement, they do phenomenal work! And ship right to your front door!

Check out Flex fish. Really neat product seen a few of his mounts in person at the cherry grove big buck night. The entire fish is rubbery, you can bend the fins but very realistic looking.

Check out Morin Taxidermy just outside Nipawin. I haven't used this guy but I seen his work at the Boat & Sportsman Show last year and was very impressed! MorinTaxidermy.ca

From my knowledge, advanced taxidermy in Toronto does the most realistic recreations by far. Everything I've seen by them is unreal. It'd be nice if people posted their fish mounts on here!

Advanced Taxidermy in Ontario did this Tarpon replica for me and I am really happy with it:

Gotta agree with Sneekerp.
I've seen replicas from a few different places, and Chuck's stuff is amongst the best!
