Some friends of mine went out to Orloff a few weeks back before the cold snap. They did really well but they told me you need a sled or atv to get on the lake. To get to the fire tower with truck is no problem but lots of snow to get to the lake and lots of snow on the lake.

Has anyone heard how the trail is now into Orloff? We are planning to go by quad mid-march if this is do-able. How's the fishing been? Thanks.

Was into Orloff over New Years on Quads. Ok going in but snow made the climb out tough. Need a sled. There was flood water and even sleds had to keep moving or they would sink. Fishermen were setting up nets. Fish and Wildlife told us the walleye have been hammered in that Lake. We aught a few pike.

Ive never been to the lake and i am wondering how tight the trail is in there, i dont own a quad but i do have a 97' Jeep TJ. Would it be able to make it through?

Call me crazy but why the heck are people allowed to use nets or commercial fish when alberta is having enough trouble sustaining fish in lakes here. It really makes no sense to me. Oh we are only after Whitefish its not our fault all these wallete and pike got in the nets. Geeeeeesh give your head a shake SRD

I have sledded around this lake, fished it a few years ago. What i remember, the trail has a few short hills, rutted and narrow. I wouldnt try a vehicle without a winch. Just in case you slide off the trail. Yrs ago you could drive in. As for the nets, when i sledded around the lake, i was surprised at all the different nets out there. Never expected to see that many. A few small basic shacks in the trees as well, just off the shoreline. Almost all of them had smoke coming out of them. Im sure someone here will give you a real good update on the trail in.

I'd say no ....had a buddy try last year and got stuck for four hours ...I guess there are a lot of hidden rocks and boulders one mashed up his rear diff and seal pretty bad.
Much more snow this year so I would say no forsure.

I have never been myself. But wouldnt even try with a Quad.

Was just at orloff last weekend. No way a jeep is making it in this year. Not from the main access point on the south end. Tons of snow and lots of floodwater. Even 31" mudders will be buried.

Had trouble with a 144" track and a quick flip in tow!

Went last year and had a hell of a time getting on with a ford f150. Managed to tear off a running board right before getting on

Was in there a few years ago with a truck and had no problem with an f-150, guess it just depends on how many people have paved a trail out there. With your unot if you have some good mud tires on you should be fine. The trail is wide enough just pretty hilly in spots.

Have been there a couple times this year already. Quads are working hard. You need a sled. The trail is quit rutted and trees and rocks. Don't even think about the trail with any vehicle. Although on the far end of the lake I did see trucks on the lake. They must have another access point. Lots and I mean lots of flood water on the lake and in some spots we drilled approx 10 inches of good ice.. IMHO not enough for a vehicle. But ice depths did vary a lot around the lake
