Hey guys,

I don't know how many of you have heard about this.

Menu Foods, who are the manufacturers of 51 brands of dog food, and 40 brands of cat food, have had to recall over 60 million cans and pouches of their 'wet style' product in North America as of last Friday!

The food became contaminated and has led to 10 confirmed animal deaths due to kidney failure. Some of the retailers include Wal-Mart, Kroger, Superstore and Safeway. Some of the brand names include Iams, Nutro and Eukanuba.

Please check out these links for more detailed information.

Thanks for the link. Luckily I feed Purina Pro Plan and it isn't on the list. They sure make a pile of different brands of food though!!

I see that it's starting to gain some momentum in the media, however it is good to at least have the exact list of the products.

The first reports of problems were from Feb. 20. On Feb. 27, the company started tests on '40-50' animals, and 7 of them died within fairly short order (Calgary Sun, March 20/07, page 21).

Let's see if we can't keep this one on page one for the next week or so.

It was the wet packet food the dry food was deemed safe.

Thanks for the post Ryan.

I called the vet clinic where I buy my dog's food just to be sure.

I don't even want to think about how it would feel to lose a dog that way.
