Hi I'm hoping to fish east pit once the ice is off after seeing it fished on YouTube. I'm wondering how exactly to get in from any roadway because in the video it just looked like hills surrounding it. And also does anyone fish the fort sask. Trout pond I live in fort sask. And have tried that pond lots but have never had success and I think I'm not using a proper setup so any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Just google maps East Pit Lake. It is just north of Wabamun Lake on Range Road 40B. The parking lot is on the West side of the road behind some trees, not too far off the Yellowhead so don't go too far. It is a short walk up and down a hill. If you have a good set of legs its a piece of cake. There is a path... grassy and partially treed mind you, all the way around the lake.

Watch these videos for some typical trout producing methods. Spoons and Powerbait were shot at East Pit.

Slip Float Fishing: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yiPf8LBcz64

Micro Jig Fishing: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wGLyJAeyVv4

Then there is always fly fishing.... not my department, haha!

Good luck out there. Trout are pretty easy to catch once you get the hang of it. Just keep moving around the lake till you find a spot holding fish. Fish are often closer to shore than you would think early in the spring.

I was at the Fort pond only once a few years ago. It was full of weeds right to the top almost. Has it cleaned up at all in the summer? Anyone?
