You can float your boat at Pine Coulee

Thanks for the Pine Coulee update also! I took my kayak to McGregor this morning, thinking that it would be a waste of time taking the boat. There was actually quite a bit of open water at the north west part of the lake. I didn't bother trying to fish it, but it was good to get some paddling in. Hard to believe for March.

Glad you didnt fish it as it is closed. Could have been a costly day for you with a nice ticket.

Sure makes a guy wonder how many people don't have a clue that fishing is closed in most lakes in the south. Taking to a F&W officer the other day and he said he caught 2 people fishing at the forks. I still say poachers are harder on our fish stocks than commercial fishing was. READ THE REGS.

Got out to PCR yesterday...Started out as a great morning and then the wind came in....Had one bite all day...We started out at the South end and then moved to the North side of the bridge....Was thinking of bringing the boat out till I heard about the winds for the day...

Friendly reminder....PCR closes at the end of the month:)

I post here looking for some friendly advice about ice melt and now I'm a poacher. I didn't even have any fishing gear with me.

Don't worry it is very common to ready fire aim at a lot of post. :)

A suggestion to him was pcr instead because
It is open till the end of March..

I hope this poster is not the man who had to be air lifted from PCR yesterday to hospital. Said it was a man in a kayak that ran into difficulties.

dean2287 if it is not you it would be nice of you to let us know.

Just verifying the poster knows the closures as many that post here never read the dates and don't know what is open and what is not. Costly day if you were unaware so for all be sure to check before heading out this week. Most will be closed but if you read carefully there are several that remain open and you can still fish.

Won't be stoppin anytime soon as I have been fishing the non closed type spots and been successful.

i think you guys missed the part where he said he took his kayak to mcgregor

You then missed the suggestions of open fishing at PCR till the end of the month and then so happens the next day a guy in a KAYAK capsizes at PCR and have not heard from him since....Coincidence...maybe...maybe not

Thanks

The lake has been ice free for a long time. The catch may be that they have the gate locked going down to the boat launch. You can call the guys at the town office in Clearesholm to see if it is open or if not pm me as I can give you the personal cell of the guy that runs the campground and launch area and you can call him direct.

Calgarygringo, Thanks for the number and the very quick reply.
I called the camp attendant and he said the boat launch IS open but its very windy (60-80 km). All my question have been answered - thanks again you have been a great help.
