I'm sure there must be a couple of guys who do this on here.

Looking to get rid of my crabapple tree. No wider than 8", and 20' at the tallest.

Ball park figure?

Chain saw, cut into shorter pieces and feed through chipper. Use. Chips in smoker. Apple is good with pork. :)

Yeah I don't want it moved
Want it destroyed. Hate the Damn thing. Drops about 80,000 apples every year. I'm the only one in our neighbourhood that uses a snow shovel in the summer to get rid of the 3" of apple mush on our sidewalks.
No, I have no interest in trying it myself.

I would say 2- 3 hrs work for a guy with a chain saw and truck. $100-150

I've been out of the game for a few years now, but an approximate quote should be $250ish for the removal (KEEP the wood!) and $125 for the stump. PM if you'd like a reference to a reputable contractor.

Personally, I let it bloom one last time before getting the ax. :)

How many feet from the curb is the tree?
City property is 3 meters from road.

City property varies greatly. General rule of thumb is 1.6m from inside edge of concrete. I HAVE though seen it as large as 9m. The penalties (years ago) for removing a city tree was a $2500 fine per tree, and you were required to replace it with TWO trees (often having to be purchased and installed from the city at outrageous prices). Never hurts to call 311 and check, although the tree in question is IMHO on private property.

Haha. NO. Outta the gig but it ain't outta my heart. Besides, for better or worse, I prefer to wear the reputation I've earned around here. :)

City setback has quite a lot of variance. Out front on our cul-de-sac the city has about 8-10' from the sidewalk, which is fine because then they're on the hook for pruning essentially all the elms on the street :). I might pop in a burr oak somewhere. The neighbors to one side have an overabundance of spruce trees which limits some of the better spots.

That tree will dry into some nice firewood Dave, it has some neat color in it too.

I'm over by spruce meadows.

I'll take the tree down to a stump flush with the ground for $100 and the wood.

The smoker will have fun with it!

A couple people would have it down and gone in about an hr. Ask your neighbore if they have a chain saw. Then sell the wood for $ 25.00 Cheaper than buying from the camp ground at the very least.

The $100.00 offer is a good one.

If you were my neighbor here in Edmonton, I'd take 3 down that size for about the price of 11 beer ...... (beers after the chainsaw work is done, of course).

It's a couple hours work really for a couple guys to cut up the firewood and bundle up the smaller branches and put them on the curb.
