I'm making up my own strike indicators for pike /walleye using 16 GA piano wire. The problem is I need a way to securely attach them to the rod tip. I see TFH has crimp sleeves, would these be suitable? Any other ideas? Thanks.

I would have just gone and bought one , you get 2 in a package for 3 dollars. Ive tryed building them many times .Just not as effective as the ones you buy.

Which ones do you use BBJ? They all seem to light under the weight of walleye jigs etc (use them for perch). My buddy has these on his rods and they work great. His FIL in Calg is a gunsmith and made up some small metal clips to hold them on but he has no spares.

I find almost all of the spring bobbers too light for walleye fishing, and the eye hole is to small (keeps icing up). I switched to slip bobbers (the style with the hole under water so they don't freeze) and have had more luck with the slip bobbers. The ones I use only stick out of the water about an inch or so, so have very little resistance when the fish take the lure.

This bobber is about 6" long but this all that sticks up with a 1/4 oz. lure on it. They are called wave busters, I don't think anyone in town carries them anymore but you can buy them on line.

Thill also makes one very similar.
