Has anyone caught or heard of anyone catching bass at Island lake the past couple years? I really wanna head out there just to try!

I love fishing for bass but you have to travel 6+ hours just to find a lake that has them:( I really wonder why they can't just even dig a few pothole man made lakes and stock them every year and have a feeder fish like perch with them as well?:mad3:

odds are 1 in 20000 hammer handle pike but the rumour mill is alive and well. My father in law lives a mile away heard of 2 caught 2 years ago no confirmation or proof. Ghost Bass !!! Water levels have dropped 20 feet since the 80's with partial winterkills highly unlikely any survived.

Ya I don't think they would of survived over 30 years without management . But I still don't get why they just can't stock at least a couple of lakes with bass? They could stock them early spring and who cares if they winter kill, they can just re-stock them again in the spring, I'd be fine with just open water fishing them:confused:

Ok, I'll start it off..... Let's focus on our native species and project our monies and efforts towards better fisheries for native species first...:)

I think one of the large concerns with stocking exotic species is the chances of people spreading them into other systems which may jeprodize the native populations. Like island lake is close enough to the NSR where people could cooler the bass and pop'em in the river.

I fished that lake lots, never caught one. I did see a guy about 15yrs ago that caught a big one there though, they really are there, I'm just not sure where.

There's a thread from the last few days talking about plans to introduce them. None here as of yet

Don't bother. Check google earth, the lake is almost dried up.

Insure hope they do introduce bass eventually:( We are the only province/state in North America that doesn't have largemouth or smallmouth, this province is really missing out on new fishing opportunities and fun :(
