I'm looking into stocking a small tackle box with lures for fishing rainbow and brook trout in stocked lakes, what are your reccomendations? I have about 1 1/2 plano 3500 series boxes that I can fill.

An adjust-a-bubble float and a few flies. Put the flies 5 or 6 feet behind the float and retrieve slowly. Put a snap swivel in front of your float so your line doesn't get twisted.

Flies: size 8 to 12.

My most successful has been a Red Blade Dancer. If you find one, let me know where you got them :)

Cheers

Would you add a split shot weight above the swivel to give some extra weight for casting?

Nope if you get the clear casting bubble(adjust afloat/bubble or whatever they call it.) you fill it with some water for the weight. The ends open.

You can also twist the casting bubble onto the line if you like rather than use bobber stops. Read instructions Google etc.

Remember when casting to stop your reel before the bobber hits the water. That way what ever lure your using will get past bobber hopefully without getting caught up. So look for two splashes. One for bobber and one for fly or whatever you use.

Yes if you are using a regular bobber.

If you like to "still" fish,a pickeral rig with Power Bait is hard to beat in stocked ponds. Put a bell sinker on and let it lie on the bottom. Power Bait dough on small snelled hooks will float up.

#5 gold Hildebrandt was always where I started. Red and gold Little Cleo after that.

Most if you won't believe this but my go to are 2 inch buzz bombs, buy a variety of colours and toss em as far out as you can and let' em sink, real them in with a nice twitch. The size of the trout doesn't matter. I've caught freshly stocked 20 cm all the way up to 32 inch rainbows with em.
