Hi ALL,
My kids told me Clear Lake is excellent place for fishing, someone at their school gave them lots of information about it.
Anyone here had experience fishing at Clear Lake.
Please share,,,,
Many thanks

Very shallow....gets very weedy, very eutrophic lake.

Head out tomorrow and you'll see the shoreline lined with fly fishers trying to land a big pike on the fly.

If you want a great day of fishing with the kids then instead of Clear go to Pine Coulee.
They for sure will catch more fish.
Clear is best imo through the ice.

If you go to Pine be sure to check the regs. It is not in the same region as Clear and has different regs and dates.
Thank you very much for all of replies, highly appreciated.

Yeah, I was actually wanting to go down to Pine Coulee Reservoir this weekend but it's not open till next weekend, so we'll have to wait.
So strange, this Alberta....in MB, the province opens up almost completely this weekend. The guys on ManitobaFishingForum.com are freaking out today like Christmas Eve. Ha ha!

Glad to see you checked the regs and maybe saved a ticket and expensive start to the season. Too bad everyone else giving out false info isn't helping their opeing of the new season.

Yeah, no sense in harming the fishery by getting in there early while there's maybe still a spawn on the go. That's not doing anyone any good. I'm strictly a recreational, CnR guy. All about the catch, not the keep.
I think we're going to head out to James River Bridge this weekend and see if there's anything in there. One of the few places near Olds that's open...

Thank you all for your replies.
The only issue with Pine is that we can not keep fish, so it is catch and release.
The kids like to keep what they catch and they enjoy cooking their fish.
Again, thank you for your inputs.

Good luck when you get out. Clear does have the 100cm size limit so may not be what you are looking for.
The state of our fisheries has severely limited what a person can keep. (And vice versa)

There are lots of other fish in there besides wallys. Sounds like one of the stocked trout ponds is more what you are looking for.
