As mountain stream season approaches, it is important to give ourselves a refresher on bear safety. My blog this week covers The Bear Necessities.

I'm partial to the rod tip bayonet. Just have to open your casting loop a little :bad_boys_20:

I've already come across my first bear of the season. A little cub. Set off a bear banger and didn't stick around long enough to get eaten by momma.

I was hiking out near Ya Ha Tinda last week in some dense bush and something let out a load roar a little to close for comfort, I cleared out of that section pretty quick. I never did see it. I spoke with a Parks Canada guy shortly after who works out there and he said there is no black bears around that area because the grizzly snack on them. Comforting...
