There are some lakers in Lac La Plonge. More in the SE corner of the lake and around the island. There is some pike fishing in the bays on the west side of the lake.

The pike fishing is a lot better in the Beaver river north of the bridge and towards and into Lac Ile-a-la-Crosse. We also found good walleye fishing on the river south of the bridge.

My buddies and i usually do an ice fishing trip up there every year. We stay at the cabins right on the shore. The outfit is called Anglers trail resort and outfitting and is run by dan and jodie mailand. The price for a 4 day stay with all meals, cabin, and the guide was quite reasonable. He had us on some lakers strait out from the shore a ways not far from the island. They are awesome people and i'm sure if you asked them they would be more then happy to point you in the right direction to land some nice fish.
