Last year I caught several monster Goldeye on the NSR with my fly rod, they sure do fight great don't they?

I call then mini Tarpon, they look like them too (well almost) lol :)

Nice gold eye for sure, there are plenty of those in the RDR as well, scrappy little fish!

I have never caught a goldeneye... Are they a good eating fish?

No, not really, they still stay on the bottom.

I baked mine yesterday in oven with onions and mayo. Tastes very good, only thing you gotta play with bones. Otherwise, pretty tasty meat.
They don't good to fry tho. Try to bake it

i find they are really soft for my liking, to the point where you can't even fillet them the flesh is so soft. we normally steam them in shrimp paste you find in asian markets and usually is an acquired taste. i have thought about cleaning a goldeye and season it and bread the whole thing and drop it into a fryer and see how it turns out.

After my son was born, it has been four years of no fishing for me. Have some action last week at Four Season Fly Fishing. Since I have not been to NSR for a long time, where do you guys go fishing?

Try Hermitage Park, go down to water station on the river, lot of people fish around there

Thanks for your help. Where is the Water Station? From Google map, I can only see the water runoff and north of it there is like a beach / boat launch area.
