Went out to the Ghost the other day heard it was very low. I have lived here for many years and only ever seen it this low once when they where rebuilding the dam. If you have a boat you won't be able to get it in now. They say it will be mid july before you can launch.

It's lowered for flood mitigation. This limits you to shore fishing the reservoir, which isn't the best

i could launch my tinny lol but the weather out there is too finiky. so does this mean they don't have the docks out yet either?

My guess is that reservoir will never be allowed to get back up it's former levels considering the flood mitigation plan.

the docks are out but they are high and dry waiting for the water to come back up, I've used a tinny out there before but really want to watch for the wind as it can come up in a hurry and make that lake nasty

They will bring it back up as soon as the melt is done. That's a hydro dam and they will need to push lots of water through to keep up with the air conditioners power demands ! A little rain and some melt will bring it up in 2 weeks. Should be a lot easier to find the fish now !

The shore fishing can be great there, get out and try it, jigs and smelt are worth trying ! No more need be said !:) by the way, do you do well in a boat there ?

I went out to Ghost on May 21, and it was the lowest I have ever seen in 25 years of fishing it. It was so low, the water was very muddy from waves churning up the bottom. I felt very lucky to catch a single brown trout on a panther martin. As the fishing has gradually gotten worse over the years, this new development has me reconsidering fishing here. It is no fun standing in deep mud for hours just on the slim chance at a fish.

I'm glad you catch fish there my friend, not many people can claim that about Ghost. I have tried numerous times both shore and boat as well as hard water. If you ask me I would say it is likely the hardest lake to fish in Alberta, and I know many people feel my pain. You can catch whitefish there fairly consistently if you time it right but as for the other species...not so much.

Try bottom bouncing, like your fishing for walleyes, good for Browns and Lakers

Thanks Habfan, I have tried that with willow leafs (bronze/silver) and small dodgers trolling Flatfish (rainbow trout/silver) Kastmaster spoons, Blue fox rattiling Pixie (rainbow trout) Williams wobblers, Crocks, little Cleo's, small Lyman plugs, and marabou streamer's that I make. Could it be we are talking about a different Ghost lake? Lol maybe I just have s****y luck there? :sign0176:

Hmmm....not exactly....sometimes the simpler the better, I catch your drift. I guess that applies at Ghost.

Thanks!
