Sounds like a decent deal. Your links don't work for me. I live in Cochrane so lake options are Meh!

A new replacement might cost you 17k now but you have to remember your boat is almost 20 years old now and the technology isn't all the same. 2 stroke vs 4 stroke for example.

Nadaguides gives a msrp for this boat and motor(of that year) as 9,300. That will be low as it is in US dollars and we always pay more up here for transportation fees etc so this boat should have probably been around 12,000 MSRP 17 years ago.

In the 9-10k range you have it listed in you can find 16-18 ft fishing boats newer then this with 4 strokes twice the size of yours. For example.

Long story short, I believe you are asking prime dollar in what is now a weaker market then we have seen the past few years. Keep reposting your add on kijiji every couple days(will get much more interest) and lower the price a bit every week or so depending on how much interest you are getting. If you want a quick sale my guess would be 6-7k, personally I would have trouble paying 6 but I am cheap... To the right buyer it is probably worth more but best to try and sell it within the next month otherwise will be fewer people looking.

Edit: On a side note, I missed out on a similar boat a couple years back. It was a 16 ft sylvan sea monster with 70 hp johnson. No extras but only was 4500 bucks. Just an example of what is available if you keep your eye open. You have to remember when trying to judge value on a boat you have to judge on what is selling not what has been on kijiji for months.

Any idea why my boat istnt selling?

100% its the price.

For reference I sold a 1995 dual console legend last summer. 75hp merc. 3 swivel chairs, livewell etc etc.

Took 7500.00 for it and was happy to get it.

Well, since you asked, I've been looking around a bit and yours doesn't look that much different than this one, except yours is $2200 more. What year is your boat and engine?

Of course I'm not an expert on boats, just thinking about getting into one, so yours may be much better. Good luck.

Most buyers by June 1 have found what they are looking for. I suggest best time to sell a boat is March, April and May. Without a link to the add pretty tough to say for sure. If you want a quick sale the price needs to reflect it. If higher priced be prepared to wait and tough it out.

Post it for the lowest price you're willing to take and then don't move from that price. Sometimes people put in a higher price then negotiate lower but you won't get as many people inquiring that way.

I do think you're asking too much for that boat, it's a nice boat, I just don't think it's $9000 nice.

I guess i was too high. I was asking a price that included a $1500 i-pilot and $500 fish finder originally. I don't think buyers in this category valued the options. I sold the i-pilot and swapped out the fish finder. Price reduced.

Unless things shape up in the patch, toys are going to be a hard sell in AB for awhile.

thinking about $6,500.00 to $7,000.00 if its 20 years old, northern Alberta would bring more interest

You can buy a new one for $17000 and you're asking $9000 for a 20 year old boat?

If your boat was 10 years old and $9000...it would still be too much money.

Boats depreciate, like anything else.

Even a 3 year old boat would depreciate thousands of dollars.

Price is always the reason something doesn't sell. Price it right and people will fight over it...over price it and it might as well be a million dollars, because nobody cares.

Depreciation is a bugger. In truth for that year of boat... 7500.00 would be best case :)

Looking at it another way, 19000.00 original purchase price... 20 years... if you depreciate 700.00/year..... really, there is 5000.00 left on the table.

And that is the way our toys tend to depreciate. And with the patch slowing, and a glut on the market.... sometimes you need to make the best of things.

Nice boat and a decent price .... But

Not many guys have $17 k cash. Bank won't give you that kind of money
For a used boat . There isn't enough equity in it before it depreciates lower than what's owing .
New boats have financing and for a couple hundred per month ......
You can get a brand new boat !

Same issue with selling a truck that's a year old ......

Best of luck selling it ..... I hope it works out
