How much stock should a guy put into the Solunar Tables when ocean fishing + coastal rivers? Some guys claim the halibut and bottom fish are all about the tides, others are believers in the Solunar Calendar. In my ignorance I have no opinion yet.

What is your educated opinion based upon your experience?

I have found the tide to have quite an effect on ocean fishing. Slack tide, weather high or low, results in reduced tidal flow. this makes it much easier to fish both salmon and bottomfish. if the tidal flow is really strong, it can make it very difficult to get a lure to the bottom to fish for halibut. That is why I fish for halibut during slack tide. I am able to fish without dropping anchor. Not only is dropping anchor a lot of work, it can be very dangerous to you and your boat when the tidal flow is strong.

Curious to know if anyone is tracking their fishing results compared to the Solunar predictions?
