Went to Lac St Anne for the first trip of the open water season on Saturday and had a blast. Was only there for 2-1/2 hours and i pulled out 36 walleye and the girlfriend pulled out 11. just to be fair, she did stop fishing after an hour and kicked back to read her book in the bow of the boat. Oh well, more fish for me to catch!:love0025:

Anything of size? (not that it matters - still fun fishing!). For some reason I struggle with finding a walleye longer than 23"...yet I hear guys are catching 25"-30" all the time.

Centimeters you mean. Inches...that is a big walleye sheesh.

A 36" walleye, of average girth, is in the neighborhood of 15-16 lbs .....

Considering the provincial record is 15 lbs 8 oz I'd say the OP is referring to 36 cm not 36" inches. The provincial record fish, that came out of the Pembina River measured 34.5" (if memory serves me correctly).

If it is 36 inches ...... POST A PIC !!!! That's a MONSTER

Nothing really big, most between 2-4 pounds. They sure as hell were fighting like 8 pounders though. We had a great time.

My mistake ..... my reading comprehension while getting interrupted at work by work stuff is cutting into my forum time ... lol.

I think the subsequent post discussing length screwed me up and led me down the wrong path.

I was thinking a fish that size would have been awesome .... and pretty close.

Sounds like a good day ....

Thanks Smasher, and sorry...apparently my post threw the conversation in a bit of a different direction, followed by a healthy dose of misinterpretation...hahahaha. Great day you had though on the water! I've never had a day like that with walleye.

As for the 25"+ walleye, I said that because of the open water derby. It seems there's a new post with a bigger walleye all the time, the latest being Mitch's monster 29.5"...even one of my friends (OG) says he and his gf caught all sorts of walleye bigger than my measly 23" right beside my house at the river! Maybe I should set up my underwater camera near them and take a little peek :-)

What was the method of catching them? Bait?

Thanks in advance!

I was at Lac Saint Anne the last several days.

The fishing wasn't great where I was. As near as I could figure, ten or so fishermen caught ten or so fish in several hours. Nothing worth taking home.

But the company was great and the country beautiful.

I didn't fish. Forgot to pack the rods. Oh well, I had fun anyway.

I fish that lake lots with a slip bobber and jighead. Put on a piece of minnow and wait. 2 weeks ago I landed 61 fish in 10 hours. Nothing of amazing size but what a fun day. Most would have been a B class walleye. 60 eyes and 1 gator

The three walleye I kept from their last year were good eating. No after taste what so ever.

We just used the jig and minnow system. Set it there and wait, let it drop to the bottom every few minutes and then bring it up a couple of inches, and Fish On!! The first place i tried we never got a bite in 45mins, so i moved about 200ft. Was there 10mins and then started catching them. Sometimes a short move in the boat adds up to catching more fish.:scared0018:

Was at the narrows yesterday for a couple hrs. Slip bobber and leach. Fun couple of hrs. All were in about the B class for size. Next time i'm trying minnows.
