I got the Finbore Micro which is super light and folds down. Went through 20" of ice like butter. Was only $90.

Just bought a swede-bore 8" this year so i didn't have to keep borrowing one. Love it. It breaks down so it easily stored. Light easy,so you can move around the lake if you need to. Best 60 buks I've spend so far in '09!!!

I bought / traded an Auger for a 6pack back in October and it cut ice like an Auger worth a 6 pack. 6" bit cut a hole 15" across, I thini ti was dropped and had a warp on one blade. Bought a Strikemaster 8" Telescoping handle from WSS for $100.00. Drilled 12 holes on Saturday in 2o minutes of work (over the course of the day) After 3-4 holes I used the sharpener to hone the blades. The auger fits inside my Ice cube bag with the tent which is nice.

2 questions.

1st do they have a unique sharpener to maintain the correct angle for the blade, or are you using a regular file.

2nd where can you get extensions for a hand auger?

side note anyone else heard of an attachment which allows you to use a cordless drill on a hand auger? heard mention but never seen one??

cheers

I used to use the Finbore III for my hand auger....but i now use a Strikemaster Lazer hand auger, not only does it have 3 height adjustments....but it also has the same blade design as the finboreIII, and thats because...you guessed it...they are made by the same company. At least the blades are that is.

Cut through 12-14 inches of ice usually faster than you can get a jiffy auger even started.

x3 for the Finbore with the offset dual handles. Worth the extra $$$. Best hand auger I've used hands down.

I am going to loan cohod my strikemaster 8" with the curved blades .... When I was shopping for

hand augers George at Cal/ WSS said if I didnt think this was the best

H/auger I have ever used ..I could return it ...no ? asked ...It is

for a 8" auger pretty sweet . I sometimes wish it was 6"

The Strike --Lite ....4 strk so far has been excellent ....

but it is early and I think this going to be a crap ice year

so we will see if it has the jam ....W101

I checked my box at home for that Subzero ice auger and i found out that it is made by Normark Inc. Also as for replacement blades for this auger any 6'' blade will fit for it. Its a wicked auger for 50 bucks
