Go in the spring when the ice first comes off and drag a lure around that Alberta stores don't seem to keep in stock. T-50 or T-60

Was in Manitoba last week fishing lk trout. Used cold lake special (white tube) with chuck of sucker belly. Just jigged caught 37 in trout. Try it, it works

Trolling with downriggers using spoons, plugs, apex. Cover water, look for bait on the sounder and Deepwater structure that fish will often settle on and feed over when active. If you do find some fish schooled up slashing bait then jigging with a buck tail or swimming jig can be fun. Using a technique that they use in the ocean called Yo-yoing works well for lakers all year.

What is your favorite method?

Never had much luck with the jigging but spoons & apex ( slow troll & trout killer sizes) behind the down rigger work well for me.....

Spoons work well, but best bite I have had where bait is allowed is with anchovy rigs. Use a stinger hook or another toothpick to put a slight bend in the tail of your bait, gives it a nice roll.
