Does anyone know if the water is up enough in Spray to launch a boat????? Last I heard it was not doable...

TIA

Was there last weekend and watched probably 10+ boats launch at Driftwood. None of them were huge, but none had problems either. Hope it helps.

Anybody have anything to report back as far as the actual fishing goes @ Spray right now ?

I've only ice-fished the lake, so this will be my 1st time on the water.

* is the wind always bad ? Might take the dingy out too (no motor, oars only)...

Anything biting/taking lures ?
Will they bite during the day ?
Is the fishing better at 1 end vs. the other ?
Are there any spots you can wade ?

I was fishing from shore, so I can only assume the fishing the fishing would be better from a boat - but I had 4-5 and landed 2 lakers in the 20" range. Tried everything, slip rig with smelts, white tub jigs, crank baits, etc. but landed them both on a kamlooper spoon. The wind kept picking up really bad and it was the only thing I could reasonably cast with light line. I cast it out and let it sink before retrieving. Hope it helps.

I haven't hit spray yet this season. Hope to get some time to head out early july. Has it been better on the campground side or driftwood or sparrowhawk? Hopefully, even if the lakers aren't biting on my smelts the whitefish will bite :)

Only spent ~2hrs on the water, too windy for 1 guy in a 3-man dingy... No joy with the lakers either.

Looks very low,did you try with smelt they usually work there, I might be able to try canada day if the weather's okay....... 2 hours should be enough on some days and some days not, but maybe a laker or two would be caught in 2 hours.

No smelts, next time... I should add, probably 1/3 of that 2hrs was spent correcting (rowing) after the wind would push me towards the shoreline and rowing back to shore then moving up the lake a bit to re-anchor my tether line.

Launched today at driftwood, no problems. 16' Fiberglass trihaul. Use caution though when taking the boat around the lake. The sandbars & sunken islands can sneak up pretty quick. Would hate to ding a prop or worse.
