I am heading to Palm Springs, CA on Saturday for a weeks vacation.

I understand that the bass fishing is great down there (haven't bass fished since moving from Ontario many, many moons ago). Places like Lake Cahuilla, about 45min from downtown Palm Springs in LaQuinta.

Has anybody been to this lake or others in the area?

Any suggestions or tips would be appreciated.

I promise to snap pictures and upload some.

Thank you.

Expect temps over 40 degrees. Few venture out in the summer.

I have seen lake cahuilla, it's really ugly. Small. A gravel beach. I have heard most of the golf course waters have some fish.

Ya was there in sept and it was 33 and the waiter serving us told me "ya we are finally getting some cool weather". I just could not see sitting on a boat and not moving on a lake in 44 deg temps.

I go down to PS every winter, but I don't bother bringing my rod and reel.
Lake cahuilla is little more than a slough now. The drought has hit the reservoir hard and while there are the odd bass that come up the irrigation canals from the Colorado river, they are few and far between.
There are catfish in there and the government stocks rainbows 2 or 3 times a year, but I wouldn't waste my time on the bass. There are better lakes further west...just google California bass fishing..
