Went to Wabamun this morning hoping to break my fishless streak. Well I did it :) could only spend about 2 hours there, as my ride (brother) had to be back in the city for 10:45. We caught 2 pike each, the young boy next to us caught a monster pike while we were there.
We were right at the point of the trail that runs along the canal, casting straight out into the lake with crankbait and spoons. Last one of my good rapalas due to snagging. didnt break my line but the swivel on my leader came undone... was not happy. At least it was only $5 in the cabelas sale.
There were a couple of guys fishing the other side of the canal, chest deep in the water. they were on a good hotspot, fish every 5 minutes or so, all pike. but a good 8 to 10 ft out from the shoreline.
So glad I finally caught something as everytime ive been on the NSR in Edmonton, ive been skunked. wont stop me going back to the NSR, still have a good relaxing time even without fish :)
