Anyone else been out to Fawcett Lake lately if so post or P.M just to hear what you think is the best spot to be in the winter e.g east or west how far out etc. Fished this lake in the summer have only fished this twice in the winter and usually nothing but Pike biting and suggestions will be greatly appreciated thanks.

The sand banks are usually pretty good for marbel eyes and pearch. Banks are just south of the campground (not the provincial campground at the west end). Try about 10-16ft with a chartrouse green jig head tiped with a minnow. Might be tough getting out there. Should be a good trial though as the lake is popular. You can also try birch island north of the banks. Fish the south side of the island with the same tactics. Just a heads up, there is a river at both the far west and east ends of the lake if you havn't been there and the ice might be thin. Also, I don't think you can fish east of the narrows on the east end of the lake but you'd have to confirm that in the regs. Good luck and let us know how you make out if you go.

Unless you like to shovel, do not take your truckon the ice. There is about 14" of ice but 2.5' - 3' of snow on it. Lots of water under the snow. Too much snow for easy going on a quad. Take a sled if you are going.

Was there today for a few hours and only caught a few skinny pike.

Access is really tough going. Even on foot.

3 feet of ice and probably 3 inches of slush. So much floodwater after drilling holes that you didnt need a scoop. Water pushed all the slush out making things that much more miserable.

Might want to save your gas money and wait for spring!
