All the prairie lakes in that area are going to be nasty this year.

We really need a stronger policy on agricultural runoff or catchment around some of these lakes where fresh inflow/outflows are not present.

Lac Ste. Anne is getting quite blue-green in color too. May need to search a replacement lake close to Edmonton.

Until the phosphorus / nitrogen load is embedded in the sediment, the cycle continues. (10 - 15 years)

I thought the City of Edmonton had developed "stripper technology" to remove the fertilizer from the treated waste water we put back into the North Saskatchewan.

Could something like that be set up as a mobile plant on these lakes to get them recovered and enjoyable earlier?

We are seeing the effects of old damage. A lot has been done to stop the inflow lately.

edmonton did do that however it only removes struvite which is a phosphorous product (Ostara is the project name) Only problem with the lakes is that you need a market for the by product... In the case of edmonton waste water there are a ton ton of greenhouses city wide to market the phosphorus fertilizer to. Out by the lakes it gets pretty costly to ship phosphorous. On that note too the development of struvite is different prom the PO4 running into the lakes... chemically

On that note too, the oststara project isn't removing fertilizer from waste water but rather removing the CaPO4 from the water as mamillian guts have a hard time processing Phosphorous.
