Mr Firth note what is a Power Pole on the black Ranger. Something you do not see in Western Canada at all. Let me know if you want to know more about it. It's hydraulic. Fantastic for sitting in rocks.

Sorry guys it won't let me add photos of mine. I just bought my first boat this spring. I got a 14ft lund dlx, it is an older boat, and older motor but I polished it up and it works like a charm! I have helix 5 di gps, 9.9 Johnson. I'm looking for a used motor from 15hp to 25hp. Just new ones are to expensive. I just don't have the financial abilities at age 19 to afford anything crazy. Some of these boats you guys are posting has me frothing at the mouth they are so beautiful!

Ken - that livewell is too small .... what a piece of @#$% ...... just teasing ..... beautiful boat.

Looks like an outstanding set up for fishing - lots of room in the back (unlike many cabin cruisers out there).

I'm pretty sure that whale threw to hook ..... you are going to need stronger line next time you try and land a whale.

Actually it's a beat up, leaky ,paint flaking off of it, two different oars, circa 1960's, early 70's 12' tinner and cost over $100,000 .............but it came with a lake lot and a small cabin.

I can row it really fast too!

Oh, and catch fishes from it!

Here's one for the guys that like to run lots of gravel. It was the result of an all night building session before a trip. It ended up working so well I've kept it. I went once without the boat covered in and it took a beating.

Ugly? Yes Redneck? Probably! Effective? Extremely. It has its drawbacks but protects the boat. I'd like to build it out of steel mesh.

Also have a mesh rock guard mounted on the trailer now to protect the bow from rocks.

Here is my 16' Lynx made by Outlaw Marine. It has a new 175 Mercury sport jet in it, bullet proof. The toughest, shallowest water running boat on the river. There's a reason the RCMP ,F&W and the Calgary Fire Department run them.
This past weekend on the Oldman River. 4 of us on the boat hit a rounded over rock sticking out of the water a few inches. We caught some air going over it a 35 MPH. After getting it on the trailer, you couldn't see any sign of hitting a rock.

Wow Dago the picture of your boat sure puts things into perspective regarding High River, no one would wants to use there boat by walking out your front door unless you have lake front property. Nice boat though and I am sure your neighbours appreciated a dry ride too.:)

That was the second day in the hampton area. We rescued a lady and her cat from there.

This was my first fishing machine the Malibu Pro 2 Tandem fish and dive. Worked well while I've been getting educated. I still love fishing on it. Even mounted a trolling motor and a downrigger on it and fished lake Tahoe for kokanee.

Then started working bought an old Centurion ski boat with my brother which he has in California.... so I think he should split a new Kingfisher with me and I'll keep it here haha!

Then I figured I might as well buy a fishing boat cause the two strokes were selling cheap in California since the change in emission standards down there.

Hi All,

I thought I would share the results of some recent gel coat restoration work that I did to my boat for anyone who is interested or considering similar work. I bought the boat last fall from a family friend and as you can see, it had 35 years of hard scaling and oxidation on the hull. The colour scheme will always give away its age, but the work made a huge difference to its appearance.

All in all, the work took about 9 hours and here are the steps I followed:

1. Initial stripping with variable speed sander/polisher (at around 1000-1500 RPM) with 1200 grit wool pad and 3M Imperial Stripping Compound.

2. Hand sanding with 800-1000 grit wet sand paper (with a lot of water) to address areas that polisher wouldn't remove.

3. Very light hand sanding with 600 grit wet sand paper (with a lot of water) to address stubborn areas 800 wouldn't remove.

4. Second round of compounding with polisher (1200 grit wool pad) to buff out swirl marks left from sand paper. Then completely rinsed and dried the boat.

5. Applied about 3-4 coats of wax (so far).

3 before and 3 after photos.
